Celebrate Day of the Dead at the Viva La Vida parade and festival in downtown Austin, while avoiding expensive and hard-to-find parking and chaotic traffic.
"The festivities begin with a Grand Procession at 12:00 pm, and activities will run until 6:00 pm. Participants can enjoy the Mariposa Plaza with hands-on art activities, traditional foods, local artists, retail booths, a low-rider exhibition, and live performances throughout the day. Itinerary
Departing Trip
- 11:15 am: Arrive at South Congress Transit Center
- 11:29 am: Board the CapMetro Bus 801 Tech Ridge Park & Ride NB (20 minutes)
- 11:50 am: Exit the bus at the Republic Square NB Station stop (request stop after Vic Mathias/Auditorium Shores station)
- 11:45 am: Walk to Republic Square (4 minutes)
- 12:00-6:00 pm: Enjoy Day of the Dead Parade and festivities.
Return Trip
To ensure all participants can enjoy the event for as long as they prefer, your Movability host will not be organizing a return trip. When you are ready to return:
- Walk to where buses depart from Republic Square on Guadalupe St. Note: Do not return to the stop where you exited the bus.
- Board the CapMetro Bus 801 Southpark Meadows SB or the 1 North Lamar/South Congress
- Exit at the South Congress Transit Center and Park and Ride (where you first boarded). All buses stop at the center, so you don’t need to request a stop.
